| I've got a fascination with carrying
things on bikes. Over the last few years I've built bikes to
carry large-ish objects, and tha ties in with my car-free
activism. Now that I've used a few different load bikes for
a while, I've started to accumulate photos of the odd things
I carry. My heaviest load is still around 150kg, and the
biggest load is either a queen size bed or 6m lengths of
steel and bamboo, depending on how you count such
things. |

My TriSled with MegaTrailer and a queen size bed. |

On the Cycle Against the Nuclear Cycle in Western Australia. John driving, me relaxing on the back. |
Evan and his Kotzur recumbent bike. Overloaded, as always. |
Kelly on the back of the tandem, with her furniture on Megatrailer. |
Mark with his 10W FM transmitter rig and mixing desk. Radio Massive, for Critical Mass in Sydney. |
Long Bike One when I moved to Probert St. Computer, monitor, desk, some books. Probably less than 100kg loaded on the bike. Note the stand failing to cope. |

Megatrailer will go on a standard bike, modelled by Gabe. The bookshelf would be tricky to move with a bike otherwise... |
Gabe again, this time borrowing a bed off Rachel. |
Tall Bike Too with some 4m lengths of steel on it. I rode circles while Megan worked out how to make the camera go. |

One Less Ute with speaker box, spare bike and "stuff' on it. |
Buying groceries in bulk - there's 20kg of pasta and 10kg of tinned tomatoes, 10kg raw sugar in there. Easy enough to carry, when you have the gear. |
Instant stall for The Greens on One Less Ute. Trestle tables, t shirts, propaganda. And an umbrella in case there's weather. |
All that came on the bike. |
A pedal car for grown-ups. Unfortunately after it had been trashed by the blue gang at Reclaim The Streets. |
Tall Bike Too being carried on One Less Ute. It really strained the quick release mount on One Less Ute, because the axle mount was that was all that was h |

Long Bike loaded with bins of stuff - mostly books. Each bin only weighed 20kg or so... easy enough to load |

but having pushed it off the stand, I couldn't lift and pull the bike to get it back on the stand. So the photo shoot was done with the bike leaning against the wall. |
and it looked fine leaning on the wall. All 120kg of it... |
