Minor Feature List

A quick list of bullet points for things that the trike must have, but that are fairly self-explanatory. Nice, simple things.

  • Lights, both halogen and LED/Dynamo.
  • Flag mounting points, on the rack but also perhaps on the seats?
  • Lots of bidon/drink bottle cage mounts. Fill with cheap steel bolts. Note that Ian Sims uses shorter insets just brazed straight onto the top without drilling sometimes.
  • towing points - put 10mm nuts on frame in sensible positions.
  • mudguards/fenders
  • mirrors
  • easy adjust of handlebars both front/ rear and in/ out
  • front derailleur cable and brake hose need to be mobile, so can move when convert. Brake lever will also have to move.

The rest of the items are a little harder to describe.

I knew I wanted at least one sliding seat, the rear one. Should the front seat slide too? That means the chain length never changes, which is very useful. But it also means the handlebar positioning could be tricky, and ditto the chain line under the front seat when it's right forward. And mounting the sliding mechanism over the front cross member joint could be difficult. I've ridden a Windcheetah so the idea of just clamping the seat straight onto the main tube was one obvious solution. The Windcheetah does not corner very tightly, but even so I managed to twist the seat around that tube on a corner (and I was only doing about 30kph!).
